CLEANING YOUR MICROWAVE

Did you know that spilled food in a microwave, if not cleaned, will slow down the cooking time of other meals?
If the inside of the microwave is a bit grubby, place a bowl of water inside & heat on high to boiling point. The steam produced will soften the baked on food making it easier for you to clean it off by wiping the walls with a damp cloth.

BATHROOM MATS

Vacuuming bathroom mats can be difficult so just toss them in the wash every week or two instead!

WOODEN FLOORS

To damp-mop wood floors, use plain water or a water-based floor cleaner. Don’t use vinegar as the acid will reduce the shine on any polished floors and it may damage the floorboards over time as well.

COBWEBS

Clean cobwebs with a long stick or broom handle covered by an old sock. It also works well for cleaning under stoves and refrigerators.

ALUMINIUM PANS

Restore the shine on aluminium pans. The acid in apple peels can help restore the shine on aluminium pans. Place some apple peels in the bottom of the pan, cover with water and boil for a couple of minutes. Discard the water and apple peels and wash with warm soapy water.

CEILING FANS

Cleaning ceiling fans. Place an old pillowcase on the blades of a ceiling fan and wipe away, letting all the dust fall inside. Take the dusty pillowcase outside and shake then wash as required.

GRIMY OVEN

Cleaning a grimy oven. Pre-heat your oven to 180ºC. Place some citrus peels (orange, lemon or lime etc.) in a roasting pan and just cover them with water. Place the pan in the oven for approximately 20 minutes so that the citrus peels just simmer in the pan. Turn the oven off and once it is cool you will be able to scrub away the grime more easily.

ODOURS

To remove odours from plastic containers, fill them with scrunched up newspaper & place them in the freezer for a few days.

WINDOW CLEANER

Grab 1 cup water, 1 cup white vinegar & some old newspapers.
Mix the water and vinegar together in a spray bottle then spray the mixture directly onto windows or mirrors. Use newspaper to wipe away the grime for a fantastic clean.

DRAIN CLEANER

You will need ¼ cup bicarb soda and ½ cup vinegar for this cleaner.
Pour the bicarb soda into the drain then add the vinegar. Plug the drain until the fizzing stops then flush with a pot of boiling water.
